You ask a spectator to take a match out of a matchbook, and ignite it to verify it is real. The matchbook is then held tightly by the spectator in their closed fist.
A card is selected in the deck - then visually vanished under impossible conditions. The spectator slowly opens their hand to find the matchbook has visually transformed into a twisted hybrid of playing card and match pack!

Initial Thoughts: I was looking forward to this one as I like the idea of the effect. It's a very 'street magic' style effect, but could easily be used in many other ways.
After Playing for a while: Yep, it's official, I like this. The idea is that a matchbook turns into a folded playing card in the spectators hands.
The specially printed gimmicks allow you to fold the playing cards in such a way that they look exactly like matchbooks.
There are similar effects on the market, but this has been streamlined and the time has been taken to work out how to get the most out of the effect.
The gimmicks ar great and do their job very well. Even up close, the folded cards look like matchbooks (complete with staple!!)
First Performance: This works nicely. The idea is that after performing a trick or two with a book of matches, you hand the book to the spectator to hold. You then have a playing card chosen, which vanishes from the deck.
The spectator opens their hand and opens the matchbook, to find that it has turned into a folded playing card, the one that they selected.
Overall Audience Reaction: Reactions to this are very good. It's totally unexpected. Once you have performed a trick or two with the matchbook and then handed it to your spectator, they will assume that you are done with the matchbook.
Coming back to the matchbook a bit later for the revelation is very nice.
Personally, I will be working on a routine that involves a selected card having a burn appear on the back (version of Red Hot Mama), this gives a reason for having the matches in play. This will lead into a simple Ambitious Card Routine,with the selection appearing AS the matchbook as a finale.

Pros: Lovely packaging, well produced gimmicks, cool DVD
Cons: Only about 13 gimmicks supplied, but this is something I would keep for more special occasions
Value for Money: I think the price is about right as clearly thought has been put into the packaging, the product and the teaching. I think Dan and Dan deserve a pat on the back for this one, well done guys!
