Dihedral 40L - Rucksack by Mountain Hardwear

This is the smaller version of the Direttissima Mountain Hardware pack. It's a 40 litre, heavy duty climbing pack for long days in tough conditions or multi-day trips. Hipbelt, framesheet and lid are removable, and the pack can be compressed to the body for small loads. Compression straps tuck away for a clean look and super-durable HardWear tarp slides over rocks and sharp edges.

This is an excellent pack from Mountain Hardwear and clearly a lot of thought has gone into it. The pack has many practical features that all work well within the pack design. It is also built to be tough. It really should take a great deal of abuse. This excellent usability and hardiness means that the pack does weigh slightly more than its competitor sacks, but there is always a trade off with every pack and the Directissima can be stripped down if you need to save that extra weight. The back panel, hip belt and lid can all be removed to keep the weight down.
